How important are sit-ups for a six-pack?
I know that sit-ups and other ab exercises are good for developing ab muscles, but i also know that your six pack will not show unless you have a low body fat percentage, even if you do have a strong abdomen. So if you are trying to get a six-pack, is there any point to doing ab exercises until you first lose the body fat? Should you do ab exercises while doing other stuff to drop fat? Or will it make a difference either way?

Try the following out;
Run as fast as you can for 20 – 30 seconds and then walk briskly for 3 minutes. Repeat this 5 times in a session. Do this exercise for a minimum of 3 times a week. This exercise includes bursts of hard action followed by a period of less strenuous activity. Use a park, street or track.
Leg lifts Lay on your back with your hands behind your head. Using your abdominal muscles, lift your legs to approximately 60 degrees from the floor and hold them there for 10 seconds. Then let them down slowly. Do not let your feet touch the floor!
Start off with 3 times 10 – 15 reps and work yourself up to 3 times 30 reps. Do this every second day. This is extremely important because your muscles need a rest period in order to build up.
As complimentary exercises, Push-ups and Chin-ups are an excellent way to develop ribbed abs. The reason for this is that the abdominal muscles will always support the other muscles during exercises.

Ab exercise make your muscles stronger but you will never see them until you lose the fat covering them. So diet and cardio is vital
Very, very good! I got results quickly! Do a lot of different exercises. Running is good for your abs. And even sitting up straight is good for your abs!

I would think you’d want to gain the six-pack while you are losing wieght. That way, you wouldn’t have to wait another X amount of months to have them. Once you’ve lost the fat they’d be there. I guess it really depends on how long your willing to wait for them.
i lost a lot of weight a year ago and i was skinny but had no six cuz i didnt work it out. then when i worked them out it showed so i mean they develop pretty quick if your skinny but now i have more weight on me and i work them out and their still there. i hate ab excercises though so if you get skinny first theyll come
I know that you didn’t really include this in the question, but the fastest way to get a six pack is to do things like resistance sit-ups, and planks, and deadlifts. Situps will strengthen and harden the abs, but those things will make them grow. It’s alot easier to uncover them if they are like mountains, than if they are like firm little hills.
